Explore the diverse and enchanting landscape during a round trip around the lower Lake and the Überlinger Lake. Your starting point is Constance, the largest city on the lake. The cycling tour leads you from here into the picturesque old city of Stein a. R.. After crossing the border, you cycle via the Höri peninsula into the lovely Radolfzell, via the Bodanrück and the nature reserve Großen Riedes. Follow the Lake Constance cycle path to Friedrichshafen, to the fascinating Zeppelin museum, before you cross Lake Constance by ferry and return to Constance.

Travel days

1. Day: Arrival - Constance

Take the time to visit the sights worth seeing in the council city. Emerge into a fascinating underwater world in the Sea Life Center (incl.) and discover the jungle and the rain forest.

2. Day: Constance - Stein am Rhein/Gailingen (approx. 29/39 km)

You travel through picturesque places to Stein am Rhein, where it is worthwhile to visit the Lindwurm museum. The Hohenklingen castle, which dates back to the middle Ages, is situated above the city. One of the loveliest sections of the high Rhine leads you into the 1000 year old health resort Gailingen.

3. Day: Stein am Rhein/Gailingen - Radolfzell/Bodman-Ludwigshafen (approx. 24-49 km)

Today you travel to the Höri peninsula. The Hermann-Hesse-Haus as well as the Höri museum can be found in the midst of the old village centre of Gaienhofen. You cycle on small paths to Radolfzell with its crooked alleys and beautiful aristocratic and patrician houses. The double communities Bodman-Ludwigshafen are a jewel in pure nature. This is known as the loveliest spot at Lake Constance, with its multitude of rare plants and birds.

4. Day: Radolfzell/Bodman-Ludwigshafen - Uhldingen/Meersburg (approx. 20-39 km)

You travel along the Überlinger Lake to Überlingen with the St. Nikolaus cathedral, a sight worth seeing. You then pass the baroque monastery church and cycle to Uhldingen, which is known for its pile dwellings from the Stone and Bronze Ages. You then continue on to Meersburg, one of the loveliest towns at Lake Constance.   

5. Day: Uhldingen/Meersburg - Constance (approx. 38/45 km)

The lake path brings you into the Zeppelin city of Friedrichshafen, where you should definitely pay a visit to the Zeppelin-Museum. Afterwards, you take the ferry (on one’s own) to Romanshorn. A dream-like view of Lake Constance and the impressive Alpine foothills accompany you to Constance.

6. Day: Constance - Departure

Individual departure from Constance.


The Lake Constance cycle path runs mainly on cycle paths or on quiet side-streets, which are mostly asphalted. The larger part of the route leads you in close proximity along the lake shore and is signed throughout.
