Travel days

1. Day: arrival - Copenhagen

Individual arrival. Visit the landmark of the city, the small mermaid at the Copenhagen harbour or take a walk at the old harbour, which is a real eye-catcher with its lovely facades and gabled houses.

2. Day: Copenhagen - Køge (approx. 43-56 km)

You cycle southwards on beautiful paths and mostly along the bay to Køge. Here in this small town, you will be awaited by one of the loveliest medieval market places and the oldest Town Hall in Denmark. Lovely white sandy beaches outside the town invite you to bathe or to just relax and linger.

3. Day: Køge - Naestved (approx. 61 km)

Travelling right across the green southern Zealand, today’s stage will lead you to the west coast to Naestved, one of the oldest cities in the country. You can go on a side-trip to the Gavnø castle. The castle park houses more than half a million flower bulbs, a rose garden and some rare types of plants and trees.

4. Day: Naestved - Korsør (approx. 65 km)

Your cycling trip leads you northwest, through the landscape at the Great Belt. Splendid beaches and dune landscapes characterise the scape around the holiday and fishing village Kaerebaeksminde. You can learn about the town’s history at the fishery and city museum. Before your continuation of the journey to Korsør, you should taste some freshly smoked fish in one of the smokehouses.

5. Day: Korsør - Sorø/Ringsted (approx. 50-57 km)

The Trelleborg, one of the loveliest replicas of the royal and Viking castle, is situated west of Slagelse. You then continue your journey to Ringsted. The church with five towers as well as the old city with its crooked houses are all well preserved.

6. Day: Sorø/Ringsted - Roskilde (approx. 45-70 km)

Today’s cycling tour leads you to the coasts and fjords at Roskilde. You first travel to the Iselfjord and then further to the Roskildefjord. Roskilde, whose cathedral can be seen from afar, was acknowledged as UNESCO-World Cultural Heritage in 1995. The cathedral church is the burial place of many Danish kings. Travelling on the trails of the Vikings, you can row from the harbour over the Fjord in replicas of the old Viking ships.

7. Day: Roskilde - Copenhagen (approx. 44 km)

You travel on a short route back to the Danish capital. Here, you can reminisce over your journey in a pleasant café with some Wienerbröd and a cup of coffee.

8. Day: Copenhagen - departure

Individual departure from Copenhagen.

During this flat to slightly hilly cycling tour, you travel mainly on cycle paths and side-streets. The route often runs along the coast.

total length: approx. 308 - 353 kilometres

Copenhagen can be easily reached by train via Hamburg. There are direct connections or you can change trains in Århus in East Jutland.

    By car:
Copenhagen can be reached via a well-developed network of motorways and trunk roads. A car ferry operates between the German Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn and the Danish island of Lolland (Puttgarden-Rødby). From Rødby the European route E47 leads directly to Copenhagen.

    By plane:
The closest airport is Kastrup near Copenhagen.

Parking at the arrival hotel: Some of the hotels have their own underground car parks directly at the building or in the surrounding area. However, the cost for parking can be very high, so we recommend an arrival by train or plane. All costs have to be paid on-site.
