Independet arrival in Kiel, the capital of Schleßwig-Holstein.Go for a walk on the “Green Trails”, which lead you to the most beautiful parts of town. Visit the wide beaches and tranquil countryside, see the impressive yachts in the harbour. In the water gate museum you can learn a lot of interesting facts about the Kiel Canal.

Your first trip of the tour takes you to Laboe (you can cycle or take a boat), which is beautifully located on the “Kieler Förde”. Go for a swim in the Baltic Sea. Via Stein, you reach Schönberg. In Schönberg where the “Museumsbahn”, the Probstei museum and the “Seebrücke” are worth a visit. Overnight in Schönberg.

You cycle along Schönberg beach and reach Hohenfelde via Stakendorf. Hohenfelde is situated in the part of Schleßwig-Holstein that has the most sunshine hours. Visit the culture monument in Büchsenwall and enjoy the atmosphere of this rural region with its traditional farming villages. You continue past extensive beaches and large estates in the hinterland and finally arrive in Lütjenburg or Hohwacht.

You leave Hohwachter Bay with its cliffs and long, sandy beaches and cycle to Oldenburg along Weißenhäuser Beach. An open-air exhibit of a rebuilt Slavic village are worth a visit. You spend the night in Heiligenhafen.

Today you have the opportunity to visit Fehmarn Island. You reach the island, which the locals lovingly call the “6th continent”, via the Fehmarnsund Bridge, also known as “The World’s Largest Cloths Hanger”. Stroll through the town of Burg and take your time visiting the Church of St. Nikolai and the Ocean Centre. Back on the mainland you pass the spa towns Dahme and Kellenhusen. On the 400m long sea bridge in Grömitz you have an excellent view over the 8 kilometre long beach of the Lübeck Bay. You spend the night in Grömitz.

You leave Grömitz behind and bike to Neustadt, via Pelzerhaken. Neustadt is a charming town with a harbour full of beautiful, nostalgic boats and historical brick buildings. You continue along the coast to Timmendorfer Beach, where you spend the night. Visit the Sea Life Centre, the wind mill or World’s largest owl collection in the Bird Park in Niendorf.

On your last bike tour of the trip you start out towards Travemünde, where a visit to the Church of St. Lorenz with its baroque altar by Lübeck master Hieronymus Jakob Hassenberg is highly recommended. Your journey ends in Lübeck. Enjoy a stroll through the historical town centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful old townhouses, buildings with typical architecture of the region like stepped gables and large clinker churches.
